You may be surprised to know that people don’t just indulge in chemical peels for beauty’s sake and to achieve the youthful glow that accompanies such a treatment. While Chemical Peels Charlotte NC have been long sought after for the elimination of wrinkles, there are other reasons women seek them out. Chemical peels are often sought as corrective measures to fix facial and skin problems that have developed over the years. Many times with one treatment you may eliminate uneven skin tone, lose the brown spots and discolorations that appear over time with exposure to the sun’s harmful rays. Many seek chemical peels to treat scarring in visible areas, in particular acne scarring that are usually very discolored and noticeable. Chemical peels are very effective in correcting all of these particular skin plaguing problems.

Different Types of Chemical Peels

There are more than few different types of chemical peels available at The Center for Women’s Aesthetics, let’s explore a few of the most common types in use.

Phenol Chemical Peels

By far the strongest of all are Phenol chemical peels. As all chemical peels cause a shedding of the upper layers of skin, phenol chemical peels are known to produce the most dramatic results when fighting any skin imperfection or deep seeded wrinkles. The strength in phenol peels has even been known to be effective in the removal of superficial pre-cancerous skin growths. This may be due to the extended period that the chemical peel remains on the skin. Phenol chemical peelsrequire a local anesthetic, and generally a prescription is given for after the procedure. For this reasons doctors are the ones that perform all phenol chemical peels.

Alpha Hydroxy Acid Chemical Peels

Alpha hydroxyl acid chemical peels are the most common in spas. A much milder peel is achieved with alpha hydroxyl chemical peels, and they are terrific in treating more topical and fine line wrinkles, skin discolorations, uneven patches, and dry patches or problem areas on the facial surface. The chemical most often used in an alpha hydroxyl chemical peel is glycolic acid. While very effective more than one treatment may be required to achieve the results one is seeking.

Trichloroacetic/ TCA Chemical Peels

The next step up from a AHA chemical peel is TCA chemical peels, common in Charlotte NC. TCA chemical peels can produce a deeper peel than the previously mentioned AHA peel, and therefore are that much more effective when eliminating wrinkles, and scarring issues on the skin surface. TCA chemical peels can cause a slight burning sensation on the skin surface and the sensation may last for a few days. However, fewer treatments are required to achieve the desired look and many prefer these types of chemical peels.

At The Center for Women’s Aesthetics, chemical peels improve texture, tone & clarity of skin, reduces age spots & hyper pigmentation, including melasma.
