Make Sure Your Next Steakhouse Experience Is Superb

Not all steakhouses are equal. Some steakhouses tell you what you are getting but fail to actually deliver. You may not even be fully aware of it either. With the high cost of beef continually rising, you need to make sure that you are getting a meal that is worth the hefty price. There are many reasons why you may not get the steak you are paying for. They range from incompetence to bad service. Become more aware of these ‘steak sins’ and you will enjoy your steakhouse visit even more.

Eat Choice Cut Steaks at Home

While the appeal of a steakhouse is to be provided with a delicious meal of choice cut steaks, it may not be the place you need to go to get the best experience. A steakhouse offers prime cuts that have been approved by the USDA. However, the specs for approving prime cuts of steak have not improved much over the years and leave a little to be desired. In other words, chances are that you can find a better cut from your local butcher and cook it yourself for less. If you are going to the steakhouse for the ambiance, then the experience is worth it.

Be Careful about Ordering Wet or Dry Aged Steaks

The whole point of ordering a wet or dry aged steak is that the process is meant to make the steaks more concentrated and flavorful. It takes a long time to put a steak through this process, and it can cost a lot of money too. Plus, you need to consider what condition the aging room may be in. Is it clean? As it turns out a lot of steakhouses tend to try to store too many steaks in their aging rooms and do not keep an eye on the humidity levels like they should. This means you end up paying top dollar for a steak that could end up being moldy.

Order Your Steak How You Want It Cooked

When you eat at a steakhouse, be sure to order your steak exactly how you want it cooked. Otherwise you may end up with a burnt steak. If you leave it up to the cook to decide how much to cook your steak, they tend to over-cook them and send them out burnt. Some steakhouses even advertise their steaks burnt. A steak that has been cooked properly is brown with a crusty edge that is not black.
