Kid-friendly Tomball Fun

As Spring approaches, many parents may be looking to get their children out of the house and keep them entertained on weekends. Like other cities in the Houston area, Tomball offers outdoor festivals for the whole family. One of the most popular events that takes place during the spring is Tomball’s German Festival, which offers a carnival with children’s activities such as pony rides, a petting zoo, and moonwalks.

Unlike many Texas cities that celebrate German activities such as Oktoberfest in the Fall, Tomball chooses to celebrate German culture during warmer weather months. The German Heritage Festival is a street festival that takes place in old Tomball, complete with Lederhosen and “oompah” music. The festival features street performers, German dancing and music, as well as ethnic foods and a wide selection of German beers. The event offers great activities for those who enjoy German foods and cultural activities and would like to experience them year round. The Tomball German Heritage Festival features free admission and parking, and the event website boasts that it is “like Oktoberfest in March.”

Tomball families looking for activities to keep their children busy on the weekends also may consider Houston events such as the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Kid’s Country area. The Livestock Show and Rodeo is a charity which benefits children of Texas, so you will know that the money you are spending is going to a good cause. That is not the only reason to visit, though. Kid’s Country is devoted to providing kid-friendly activities. Your kids can combine carnival fun, such as rides and moonwalks, with learning about traditional Texas culture and rodeo with activities like the pig races, mutton busting, and wild steer team penning. Kid’s Country also features an antique carousel. Once you are done with the moonwalks and carousel, you can enjoy some carnival food, check out the vendors selling rodeo gear, or enjoy some of the free exhibits.

One of the best parts of living in Tomball is that families have access to the Houston Children’s Festival. The Children’s Festival benefits Child Advocates, Inc. Frommer’s Travel Guide calls the festival one of “300 unmissable events.” Beyond moonwalks, cotton candy, and carnival rides, this event combines family fun and education. The event offers more than 300 activities and is divided into several different themed activity zones sponsored by local companies, such as a science world, energy zone, space zone, auto zone, family fitness zone, and circus town. The Children’s Festival also features visits from popular Nickelodeon musical performers, as well as local magicians, jugglers, dance groups, and martial artists.

For those who prefer to entertain at home, though, event rental companies have more resources than you could probably even conceive of. The ever popular bounce houses and moonwalks at Tomball birthday parties may have been around the kid-friendly party scene for a long time, but they never grow old and never go out of style.

Moonwalks Tomball – Though there is always plenty to do and see in Greater Houston and surrounding suburbs, sometimes you want to throw your own party.
