Changing Filters Improves Performance on Your Audi

One of the key factors that will prolong an Audi’s longevity is changing filters on a regular schedule. This may be something that you may want to have checked on a regular basis when you visit an Audi service center in Austin for regular oil changes every 3,000 miles or so. A few of these filters (such as the oil filter) you may want to change yourself, but others require the expertise of an Audi service technician in Austin due to more complicated factors. Here is a list of some of the filters in your car that need regular inspection and maintenance.

  • Oil. This is the filter that removes particles from your oil, such as rust, soot, and other elements that may otherwise contaminate your oil and adversely affect the way your engine runs. Usually, the oil filter should be replaced when you have your oil changed. You can do this yourself, as well, whether you change your own oil or not.

  • Fuel. This filter prevents your fuel system from becoming contaminated by various particles, which can clog up your engine and cause damage. If the filter isn’t changed every 30,000 miles (or at least once a year) the potential for it becoming clogged and preventing fuel flow to the engine increases. This can cause your car to have difficulty starting, lots of stalling, and even the loss of the capacity to go more than 20-30 miles per hour.

  • Air. In contemporary cars, the air filter protects the injectors, and in older cars, they also protect the carburetor. Most Audi service technicians in Austin recommend replacing air filters every 20,000 miles or so, or as needed.

  • Automatic Transmission. If this filter is not changed on a regular schedule, you may find your Audi’s transmission slipping at times, as well as other problems, such as possible engine coughs or brief moments before the car slips correctly into gear and is engaged. This filter should be changed every 20,000 miles or so or as needed.

One of the best ways to preserve your Audi engine is to keep it clean. The cleaner your engine is, the more smoothly it will run. Filters help to keep the engine clean, and these should be replaced on schedule in order to ensure the optimal performance of your vehicle. If you do not know how to change any of these filters, it is probably better to take your car in to an Audi service technician in Austin than to try to blindly figure it out yourself and risk making a small problem worse.
