A Look at the Concept of a Patch Panel

Category 6 patch panels are seen in a wide variety of locations, but one of their most common uses is in the office environment.  This is due to the fact that it is quite frequent that multiple computers need to be connected into a single network.  This is accomplished by the use of a patch panel.  These panels are scalable for this purpose; some designs accommodating up to 48 ports in a single unit.  Therefore, these panels can be seen as cascading and they can be built upon as a system continues to grow and the number of terminals likewise increases.

However, these panels can also be used in the home when the need to connect multiple devices such as digital televisions and computers is warranted.  Regardless of their purpose, such panels are cost-effective and highly efficient solutions for most modern data transmission needs.
