The primary types of air conditioners

Air conditioners, regardless of the size or type all work in the same way. Air conditioning in Guildford is not a lot different than the refrigerator in the kitchen; it’s just that air conditioning cools a larger space, perhaps as large as an office block.

The heart of an air conditioner is a chemical which can go back and forth between being a liquid to being a gas. The chemical is what transfers heat from the inside to the outside of a home or other building. The air conditioner has many parts, but there are three that are at its heart. The three primary components are the compressor, the condenser and the evaporator.

The normal arrangement of air conditioning Guildford is for the compressor and the condenser to be located somewhere other than the air portion of the machine. The evaporator is usually an integral part of the furnace which heats your home if it’s a central system and the heating is forced air through ducting.

The fluid, which is a gas at this time, enters the compressor. The compressor subjects the gas to high pressure, packing the molecules tighter together, the tighter the molecular structure, the higher the energy. The fluid exits the compressor as a gas at high temperature and high pressure and goes directly to the condenser. The condenser is highly finned so the heat dissipates into the outside air quickly. When the fluid exits the condenser, it is now liquid, still under high pressure. This liquid then goes into the evaporator, where the pressure drops and it becomes a gas again to repeat the cycle.

During the process of changing from liquid to gas, it evaporates and removes heat from the air in the vicinity. BAS the fluid leaves the evaporator; it is a cool, low pressure gas.

The evaporator has a fan which blows across it, as hot air rises, the cool air settles at the bottom of the room.

Types of air conditioners:

The process is the same no matter what style of system is installed. The simplest and most common for domestic use are window units. These are self-contained, they fit through a prepared hole in the wall or they can be mounted in a window opening. The only thing that is required is a power point.

Split units are also used domestically as well as in smaller commercial establishments where you wish to avoid the possibility of entry by removing the window unit. In a split unit, half the apparatus is installed outside and the remainder is installed inside, mounted to a wall or free standing. The two units are connected by pipes and wires.

Larger areas that require air conditioning in Guildford are central which utilize either ceiling cassettes or ducting.
