Pre-Drill the Holes
Never drive the screws into place without pre-drilling the holes. Use a small bit, such as 3/16”, and drill down the entire length of the screw. When you place screws into wood, it is likely to have knots in it. Avoiding these knots will ensure that your screws are protected and less likely to break.
Use an Impact Driver
Placing construction lag screws by hand will increase the chances of breakage because you will have to use more force to screw it into place. With the help of an impact driver, you can efficiently insert the screw. Don’t Over Tighten
